A monthly newsletter to conduct you on the way to successful performance and harmony in your life.

Brought to you by E. Anna Watkins, MBA, CPCC - Career & Life Coach

Welcome!

Welcome to all new and continuing subscribers! I appreciate your support and your ideas - keep them coming! Many thanks to those who forward the newsletter to friends.

You will notice that this is a combined Holiday Issue instead of the regular monthly letter. Preparations for my big move (more in Tips) delayed its publication. I hope that you will find something useful here and that you will approach the holidays with happiness and excitement.

Congratulations on the completion of a successful year and best wishes for the new!

1. Opportunity Calling

"I had a terrible thing happen to me yesterday. Opportunity knocked on my door and by the time I unhooked the chain, pushed back the bolt, turned the two locks, and shut off the burglar alarm - it was gone!"

- Robert Orben

Are you ready to answer the knock at the door? We live in a world of abundance, and opportunity is out there for all of us! The trick is in knowing how to grasp it - and acting on that knowledge. How can you do this? Here are a few ideas.

There is a saying, "A wise person makes more opportunities than she/he finds." First, I believe that we need to create the conditions for opportunity. This frequently means letting go of something that is already in your life to make space for change. Think of it as inviting a guest into your home - but first you have to clear out that messy 'catch-all' room, redesigning it to be attractive and functional for your guest.

Next comes deciding who or what your opportunity guest is and how to extend the invitation. What is your dream? Who else has achieved what you want? Remember what Tony Robbins says, "Success leaves clues." Study others who have acquired what you want and learn how they managed it. This will help you plan the little steps you can take to welcome opportunity.

The last essential element is recognizing opportunity when it appears. This could be the most difficult step of all. Why? Most of us are preoccupied in our daily routines, not fully conscious of ourselves and the world around us. Frankly, we are in a fog! Sure, it's fun to visualize our dreams for the future. However, in order to be ready for opportunity, we must increase our awareness of NOW. Take time to reflect, to feel, to be in touch. Appreciate the moment! What's in this moment for you?

"One day John and George showed up - and told me we had a gig. I said, 'No, I've got a steady job here - I can't expect more.' And I was quite serious. But then I thought, 'Sod it!' I bunked over the wall and was never seen again by Massey and Coggins. Pretty shrewd move really, as things turned out."

- Sir Paul McCartney

2. Coaching Assignment

a)

Make a list of ways you can clear space to allow the new into your life.

b)

Take action on the de-cluttering you can do now. Put notes on your calendar for the clearing tasks you can do later.

c)

Identify a person who has something you want or who has achieved success that you would like. Get information about how that person attained goals. List similar actions you can take.

d)

Set aside quiet time at least once a week to reflect on your life. Notice and appreciate what is already good about your situation.

e)

Remember - Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why they call it the present!

3. Acting on a Tips

The 'tip' section in this issue is different because I have chosen to tell you about my new venture.

After many years of living in areas with extremely cold, snowy winters, I have chosen to relocate to Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is an opportunity to choose my desired climate, sunny and dry. I am excited about the sunshine, the new culture, and the chance to expand my circle of friends and experiences.

The hardest part of this move has been the parting with friends. With the wonders of technology, though, I plan to stay in touch by phone, e-mail, and the occasional visit. Watch for more news in upcoming issues of One-E-Anna Notes.

4. Class Schedule for Anna Watkins
